Since 1997, Upsilon Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has proudly supported graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. Founded January 15, 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by black college-educated women. Our sorority serves local, national and international communities through over 170,000 members in more than 900 chapters. Here in Kansas City, Upsilon Rho Omega Chapter promotes and supports youth development through its service activities.

Scholarship applicants must be Kansas City metropolitan area high school seniors who will attend a four-year college or university in the fall semester immediately following their senior year of high school. A completed application packet includes all of the following sent to us via U.S. Mail and postmarked no later than Monday, March 30, 2020 (or submitted electronically via email or our

Google Form by 11:59 pm Central time on Monday, March 30, 2020):

  • Completed application form

  • Official school transcript in a sealed envelop

  • eTyped essays answering two of the three question options

  • Copy of your college acceptance letterThree references, at least one of which is from an official at the applicant’s current school

  • A current photo (may be submitted via U.S. Mail or electronically to akaupsilonrhoomega@gmail.com)

Regardless of submission method for

other application materials, official school transcripts must be in sealed envelopes and mailed to the chapter’s P.O. Box. Applicants will receive a notice of award or regret in April 2020. Winners and their families will be invited to an awards reception in April 2020. Winners (or a family representative) must attend the

reception to receive their award.

The Independence Unit of Church Women United will be awarding a college scholarship in the amount of $500 to one graduating senior of a school located in Independence, MO. The student applying for the scholarship needs to return the application by Tuesday, March 31st, 2020, along with letters of recommendation from a high school principal and counselor and also from a spiritual advisor such as pastor, rabbi, youth pastor, priest, or youth leader of his/ her synagogue, mosque, or other faith association, or someone he/ she thinks of an adult mentor. Copies of the student's transcript and ACT scores also need to be included with the application.

GenM helps students learn digital marketing through free courses and remote apprenticeships. Our mission is to enable anyone, anywhere to acquire the skills, experience, and relationships they need to succeed in the job market. The time commitment of an apprenticeship is 3 months for 10 hours a week.


Every 3 months we hand out a $5,000 USD scholarship to one student. To be eligible for the GenM Quarterly Scholarship a student:

  • Complete at least one apprenticeship*

  • Must be at least 16 years of age on the day of the deadline

  • Must be a resident of the United States


*Note that you can be enrolled in any type of study, and that completion of multiple apprenticeships result in more entries to the scholarship draw.

Hawthorn Bank is proud to award $1,000 scholarships to four deserving high school seniors to help them complete their education. Just answer a few questions, write a couple of short essays and you could be one of the winners.

Criteria for the Hawthorn Bank 2020 Student Scholarship

1. Applicant must currently be a senior in High School.

2. Applicant must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above.

3. Applicant must plan to pursue a higher education degree in business or finance.

4. Applicant must have received no more than 4 disciplinary actions while in high school (e.g., detentions, ISS, OSS, etc.)

5. Applicant must submit the completed and signed scholarship application to any Hawthorn Bank location no later than March 31, 2020. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before March 31, 2020.

6. All information must be typed (no handwritten applications will be accepted) and all additional sheets must be stapled to the application form.

7. Applicant should not put his/her name or ANY personal identifying information on the additional sheets. Each application will be assigned a number, which will be placed on the cover sheet and on each additional sheet of the application. The cover sheet will then be removed before the applications are submitted to the panel of judges, so the judges will not know the identity of any of the applicants until after the judging has been completed.

8. All statements and essays must be composed by the applicant and submitted in type-written format.

9. Hawthorn Bank customer affiliation is not a requirement for scholarship application.

The Posse 100 seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue an education in a First Responder career, and a desire to contribute to society. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA To be considered eligible applicants must:
• Be enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the United States, progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2016 with plans to enter a First Responder career in the United States no later than the fall following graduation.
• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue a career in law enforcement, fire fighting, EMT, Paramedic or other First Responder career
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
• Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0
• Be a United States citizen

The High Scholastic Achievement Scholarship was established in 1993 to assist graduating high school seniors with financing their first year of college. This scholarship is for high school seniors who personify commitment, integrity, and kindness. The successful applicant should demonstrate community involvement and leadership skills.

The applicant must:
• be an African-American high school senior, graduating in May 2020 from a school in the Greater Kansas City area.
• have a Cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above.
• be a United States Citizen.
• plan to attend a four-year college or university in the Fall of 2020.

The AGC of Missouri (AGCMO) Education Foundation, in partnership with the Young Executives Club (YEC)
and the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), awards scholarships to deserving students training in a
construction related field. Our goal is to encourage people to enter the construction field and make the
training process a little easier. In 2019 a total of $51,000 was distributed between 24 students, in $1,000,
$2,000, or $3,000 amounts.


Scholarship eligibility is open to graduating high school seniors and college students attending accredited
universities, colleges, community colleges, vocational or technical schools, and Department of Labor registered Apprenticeship programs. The scholarships are merit-based, with a focus on work experience/history,
education, and extra-curricular activities.


Applicants must complete the correct AGCMO Education Foundation application for their program, provide
official high school or college transcripts, provide two letters of recommendation, complete an essay on their desire to work in the construction industry and be willing to submit to a personal interview.

The Construction Craft Laborers Apprenticeship Program is a Letter of Intent Program".

The Western Missouri and Kansas Laborers Apprenticeship is a letter of intent program which means any new apprentice coming into our program has to provide us with a letter of intent to hire provided by the hiring contractor. If a person wants to work as a Laborer in our industry he or she will need to make application to our program at any of our designated apprenticeship application locations. To make application 3 things will be needed at the time the person applies, a birth certificate, a social security card and proof that they have successfully completed 12th grade (high school diploma, GED or transcripts are accepted). Student Eligibility
To be eligible for the Dr. Gabriel and Christine Chiu "Review It" Scholarship a student must:
1) Be attending college or university no later than September of 2020.
2) Have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year.
3) Be attending or planning to attend a school in the US.
4) Submit answers to the essay questions no later than 11:59 PM EST on the day of the deadline.

  • Applicant must be someone who is promoting positive environmental change

Essay 

Please write a 500-1,000-word essay answering the following questions

    • What choices can we make as consumers to better our carbon footprints? 

    • What reuse and recycle innovations do you think are leading the change in business environmental conscientiousness?

    • What have you altered about your own day-to-day life to reduce your own environmental impact?

Please submit proof of enrollment or an acceptance letter in an accredited learning institution. We will accept a recent transcript, acceptance letter, or tuition bill. Please note: if you are in the process of applying for colleges and universities, please indicate your current school and submit a document with the schools you have currently applied to. If you are selected for the scholarship, we will ask you to provide proof of enrollment for your college or university at that time.

The PB&J scholarship awards students who have experienced challenges in their life that may not have allowed them to perform well academically but still have the drive to succeed.

  • Attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college in fall 2020.

Guidelines 

  1. Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity, Beta chapter, at the University of Missouri-Columbia, strives to seek out talented and goal oriented young men. Our scholarship program allows us to do so by giving high-school seniors the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments and future aspirations through this application. Two applicants will be chosen and receive a $500 dollar scholarship to be used toward college tuition, board, or any other educational expenses.  

  2. Applicants must be a high school male student, and must have been a full-time student in the 2019-2020 school years.

  3. Applicants must plan to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

  4. Hard copies of this application must be postmarked and returned via U.S. Postal Service, Federal Express, or UPS by July 20, 2020 to Alpha Gamma Sigma, Attn: Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship, PO Box 190 Columbia, MO 65205.  Applications may also be found and filled out online by July 20, 2020. 

  5. Include with your application an official high school transcript for proof of GPA and enrollment.

  6.  Letters of recommendation are not required but will be reviewed if included with your scholarship application. 

  7. Applications will be reviewed by the Alpha Gamma Sigma executive board of members and recipients will be notified via mail by or before August 1, 2020. A check will be mailed then by October 1, 2020 for the recipients educational expenses.

Design for Recovery sober living wants to offer a $1,000 scholarship to help students who fight every day to overcome the devastating effects of addiction. If you or a loved one deal with alcoholism or drug addiction, we want to hear from you.

If interested, please tell us your story. In 500-1,000 words we want to know what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now. How has addiction affected your life and/or the lives of loved ones around you? How has addiction motivated you to change your life for the better? What obstacles—either past, present, or future—must you overcome, either in sobriety or in pursuing your education?
